It is hard to imagine there is a major metropolis with a more eclectic culinary landscape than Metro Vancouver’s.
New York? Forget about it, at least if you’re craving good cheap sushi. San Francisco? You’ll spend hours in search of decent butter chicken. London? A bowl of pho will set you back $15, if you can find a soup kitchen that serves it.

All it takes is one puff to turn you into an addict.
Cream puff addict, that is.
Beard Papa’s, the Japanese pastry chain famous around the world for its fresh cream puffs, quietly opened in Pacific Mall in Markham in June.
A steady stream of fanatics has already made a pilgrimage to the second floor food court for the fist-sized puff pastry (crunchy on the outside, light on the inside) filled to order with homemade custard.
